Humana Creating 200 Jobs in LouisvilleBy Joseph Shieh, Editor POSTED September 21, 2011 LOUISVILLE, KY -- Humana Inc. said it plans to add 200 positions to its full-time workforce at the company's national Medicare service center in Louisville. In addition to the new positions, Humana currently has many other Louisville job openings, including more than 100 Information Technology positions recently listed in the Careers section of Humana.com. (The new positions will also be listed there over the next several weeks.) The bulk of the 200 new positions are in Humana's Medicare call center, including customer care specialists and frontline supervisors. These new positions are expected to increase Humana's Louisville workforce to approximately 10,800 associates by the end of the year. The company started 2011 with approximately 9,200 associates in Louisville. "Our Medicare business continues to grow and the expansion at our Louisville Medicare operations center ensures that our Medicare members and health care provider partners will continue to receive the best possible service we can deliver," said John Brown, vice president of Humana's Medicare service operations. "Our aim is to provide perfect service, for every member every day." Today's announcement of 200 new jobs coming to Louisville follows the company's recent jobs-related announcements at its Humana Cares division in St. Petersburg, Fla., and in its service operations across the Tampa Bay region, where Humana has announced a total of nearly 1,000 new jobs this year. The company also recently announced a goal of hiring 1,000 military veterans and/or their spouses over the next three years as part of a new Veterans Initiative at Humana. Last month, Humana Chairman and CEO Mike McCallister participated in an event at the Washington D.C. Navy Yard where President Barack Obama acknowledged significant support from Humana and other private companies for a national veterans-employment campaign. "We are excited about Humana's growth and delighted that we can offer jobs at a time when opportunities are limited across the country," said Kevin Stakelum, Humana's talent acquisition director. "We look forward to moving our organization forward while expanding the Louisville job market."
